Lubbock Power & Light (LP&L) will still deliver your power, maintain your poles and wires, and restore power if there’s an outage. To report an outage in your area you can call (806) 775-2509 or email lightsout@lpandl.com. Your retail provider cannot assist with outages related to the poles and wires.

LP&L won't provide electricity service to Lubbock after retail electric competition launches on January 5th, 2024, but they will continue to maintain your poles and wires as your Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU).

If you do not select a new provider by Thursday, February 15th at 5:00 pm you will be automatically enrolled with a default provider which may not be the right provider and/or plan for you. If you do get transitioned to a default provider you can still select a new retail electric provider with no penalty. For the smoothest transition, we suggest that you find a provider you feel confident in before February 15th.

You can enroll with a new electricity provider from January 5th - March 3rd, 2024. Your service will automatically transition to your new provider on your first meter read date after March 3rd, 2024.

For most people it is best to lock in a fixed rate for 12 or 24 months. 4Change Energy offers several options to meet our customer’s needs. For instance, if you use around 1,200 kWh/month the majority of months in a year, you might want to consider a plan with a bill credit when you use at least 1,000 kWh. Visit our Plans and Pricing page to compare our low electricity rates and plan lengths then choose a plan that is best for you. If you need assistance with selecting a plan we are here to help you at (855) 784-2426.
